Custom Embroidery means that your logo or artwork is stitched onto a garment of your choice. The first step in embroidery is digitizing a design. You send us a representation of your artwork (or hire us to design something for you) and we turn that artwork into coding that our embroidery machines can understand. Digitizing a design tells the computer how many stitches to use in a design, how many colours are used in a design and what size the design should be.
What do you mean by 10,000 stitches?

All of these examples are less than 10,000 stitches.
These logos are for Oak Lake Lodge
, Lakehead Thunderwolves Hockey
, and The Atikokan Voyageurs Hockey.
Many embroidery designs are placed on the left chest of a garment and are typically between 7,000 and 10,000 stitches. If your design is more than 10,000, we charge a modest fee for each 1,000 stitches in the design.

This example is less than 10,000 stitches and it is being embroidered on a toque.
What type of equipment do you use?
Sportop uses top-of-the-line custom embroidery equipment. Currently, we have over 48 heads of embroidery equipment which means that we can produce 48 items simultaneously.
This is a picture of one of our custom embroidery machines. The computer in the right corner of this picture controls the embroidery heads.

Do you offer any packaging?

This order was being sent to a hockey team. The individual packaging for each player saves the coach a lot of time when distributing the custom embroidered track suits.
Where on the garment can my designs be stitched?
- left chest ( this is most common position)
- right chest
- right or left sleeve (is mostly used for names/positions or team number)
- below collar (becoming a popular place to stitch company web site address)

This is an example of a shirt with a left chest logo placement.
Do you design logos or other artwork?
Yes, Sportop has an art department dedicated to the production of custom logos and artwork.

If our company already owns the design already, you would only be charged for stitching. However, if the embroidery design has to be ordered for you from Dakota, you would have to pay for acquiring the design as well.

Margaret using the marrowing machine, which stitches border around the edges of fabric. Below is a picture of an item that would have to be marrowed before it was sewn on a vest.

Wendy sewing Gators onto a vest. See picture below.

The Gators text was first screen printed onto fabric, cut, then the edges were stitched using the marrowing machine and then Wendy sewed the fabric on to a vest.
